-One hole in the large end
-Great for etching! See pictures of some etched eggs.
This project took quite a few months in the making! I bred my Black Copper Marans Rooster named “Music” to my Ameraucana Hen named “Usa”. (Top left egg was dad’s and top right was mom’s)….I threw the white egg in for contrast. So the chicks were born around June 2015. Pics to follow…a hen was all black, with the signature Ameraucana tufts on her cheeks. The hen was named was Margola by my sister-in-law this summer who bonded with her. It is now the tail end of winter and I didn’t expect an egg until April with this last cold front in Michigan! But on Feb 12th, we got her first egg! How cool is that….I will sell a few egg sets until the warm weather gets here, then I will collect some for phase two of the project! I will cross this young hen with another dark egg layer to get an even darker olive on the next generation. Plus I will cross her with another olive egger to see what happens!
